Moloko Mini Copenhagen Guide

Copenhagen has been on our cycling bucket list for a while now, mainly for the insane pastries and choice of specialty coffee.
We went to ride & eat and discovered that Copenhagen was also a bib dip heaven, so if you're planning your own trip, here's exactly where to go...
Why Cycling in the City Works so Well
The thing we love most about Copenhagen is that the bike is part of the city rather than something squeezed into it. Ride straight out and you're quickly onto quiet roads and green space; ride back in and the bike lanes make getting around feel completely natural. One local rule worth knowing before you set off: stay in the cycle lanes!
It's not just a city thing either, the cycling infrastructure stretches for miles beyond it, which is probably why cycling is such a huge part of everyday life here. And when the sun's out, there's always the option to finish a ride with a swim.
100km Ride North of the City
For a proper day in the saddle, head north out of Copenhagen. Within a few km's the roads go quiet and green, and it barely feels like you're anywhere near a capital city at all. Keep an eye out for a classic 5km loop the local clubs use for their weekly interval sessions. It's basically a little race circuit, all right-hand turns, with one corner where the locals know exactly where to attack. It's close enough to town for a morning workout, and a good sign of just how deep cycling culture runs here.
On the way back, you'll hit one of the most iconic roads for road cyclists in Denmark where there used to be a sign marking a finish line here; it's long gone, but everyone still knows exactly where it stood, so it's still an unofficial race to the invisible line!

After 100km, you've earned lunch at Sommer Canteen: a proper Danish spread of salad, bread, carbs and protein. And with the sea right there, ladder and all, a swim afterwards is non-negotiable. Ride, lunch, swim, repeat...we now understand why everyone bangs on about the CPH lifestyle!
The Copenhagen Coffee Scene
We spent 4 days hunting down and sharing our favourite coffee stops, and rating pastries (obviously) so here is the list:
Breakfast at Atelier Septembre: Start with the classic Danish breakfast plate: sourdough, whipped butter, cheese, a soft egg. The whipped butter is genuinely ridiculous, and the sourdough might be the best you'll ever have. We rated it 12/10, says it all!
Lille Bakery: This one's been recommended by everyone before we even arrived, and it doesn't disappoint. Get the classic Danish bun with gooseberries and custard, and the butter is basically melting into it. A solid 10/10, no notes. If you're coming to Copenhagen, this is non-negotiable. Go on a weekday if you can, weekends get busy.
We recommend combining this with a swim at La Banchina.

For a final round of pastries, Andersen and Maillard is a classic: cardamom buns, croissant-dough bun, and a pistachio cube that steals the show... worth the stop and near some more swim spots in the Nordhavn.
So, what is cycling in Copenhagen actually like?
Easy. That's the honest answer. The infrastructure is incredible, you can ride straight out of the city and quickly find quiet roads, green spaces and long stretches perfect for putting the kilometres in. Add in good coffee, better pastries, and a swim to finish and you've basically got the perfect day!
