Small Loop around Fernhurst

36 km | 22.3 mi from Fernhurst feat. Lurgashall, Easebourne & the Duke of Cumberland Arms.

This taster route takes you through some steep narrow lanes, tiny villages and quiet back roads surrounded by fields. The tarmac can be rough sometimes, but epic views and a forest crossing make up for it.

Rating > Intermediate

Terrain > Rolling hills and country lanes

Elevation Gain > 520m | 1,706ft

The loop starts in Fernhurst, a town where parking can be easily found. There is not much traffic to beat before being transported to these beautiful quiet lanes. It feels incredibly remote. In fact, we could count on our hands the number of cars that passed us.

What makes riding in the South Downs so special are the villages: with cute cottages and red brick pubs, there is no doubt you are in England!

A perfect example of this is one of our favourite pubs: the Duke of Cumberland Arms. Their beautiful beer garden is nested in the rolling countryside and is the perfect spot for food and drinks at the end of your ride. Ensure to book in advance though as it’s a popular place with the locals. (Please note, they don't allow bikes inside).

Enjoy the ride!
